Archive Researcher Intern

Farringdon, London

Us:

News has changed.

More than ever before broadcasters and websites are relying on everyday people to capture video footage of breaking events, weather, nature and sports. Newsflare licenses video content from the public to broadcasters, publishers, news agencies, production companies, advertising agencies and brands across 30 countries. We have mobile and web platforms that allow our contributors to upload video, whilst our tech platform ensures the video is presented to the most interested buying audience.

After launching in 2012, we grew organically to break even before securing a multi-million pound VC investment at the end of 2016. With plans to grow the team to 50 by the end of 2017, and a cool new office space secured in Farringdon, now really is a great time to be joining the Newsflare family as the brand continues its expansion into Asia and the US.

About the Internship:

As an intern you will become an important part of our production licensing team, learning the ropes as an archive researcher and playing a supporting role. You will have the opportunity to learn from our experienced licensing team and gain a range of skills that will serve you well in any production company or news outlet. You will learn the best ways to source viral videos, where to look, how to make contact and bring new contributors on to the platform. Depending on the length of internship, there is also opportunity to move around and learn aspects of the wider business, spending time with the news team, tech team or marketing team.

You will be required to have excellent knowledge of social networks, video platforms and great communication skills. You should be a self starter, good problem solver, have a good phone manner, a willingness to find and approach sources via email or phone if necessary and finally you should have a passion for videos!

About you:

We are looking for committed and enthusiastic individuals who are self starting and willing to learn new skills. We want somebody on our team who loves videos as much as we do, is confident navigating social media, and has a passion for research!

Requirements:
¿ Undergraduate or post-graduate degree (ideally in a media-related subject)
¿ Excellent written English
¿ Foreign language is a bonus
¿ Excellent knowledge of social media and video platforms
¿ A good phone manner and a willingness to approach sources via email or phone
¿ A passion for videos and new media
¿ Energy, enthusiasm and a willingness to muck in wherever required.

Benefits:

We are a growing company and are always looking to retain talent. Exceptional performance during an internship has potential to result in a full time position (many of our team joined us as interns).

At Newsflare we believe that work should be fun! It's a common known fact that we spend more time at work than we do at home with our friends and families. With this being the case, Newsflare are proud to offer a relaxed, fun and inclusive work environment where all ideas are taken on board.

To help foster this environment we offer....
¿ Paid Internship
¿ Weekly team get together
¿ Beers every Friday
¿ Monthly pub quiz night
¿ 5-a-side football
¿ Holiday entitlement (pro rata)

We are ideally looking for an intern who can start as soon as possible. Internships will typically run for 6 months, with a review at 3 months, however shorter / longer placements may be available in special circumstances.

Please send your CV and cover letter telling us why you would be perfect for the role.
