It is their responsibility to transcode media into editable formats and the correct frame rates for the production. Overall, their role is to organise projects for Editors, which can involve setting up project files and syncing camera footage and audio. Their primary duty is to facilitate the timely ingest of media in preparation for edit.<\/p>\n\n
\nThe salary for an Ingest Operator can vary from \u00a324,000 to \u00a331,000, with the average being around \u00a327,000. Your salary will ultimately depend on the size of the production company or post production house\u00a0 you are working for and the amount of responsibility you have. In terms of working hours, these are likely to be roughly normal working hours of 9am-5pm but again, this will depend on the production you’re working on, and the size and frequency of projects that are undertaken.<\/p>\n
\nMost employers require around 1-2 years of experience in a post production environment for this role. While a degree is not necessary, degrees in relevant subjects can be a good way of building up knowledge, which will put you at an advantage when applying for the role.
