PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE DO NOT MEET THE CRITERIA AS YOUR APPLICATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDEREDThe Video Editor is responsible for the editing of all film and audio-visual resources, primarily completing the editing work her/himself, but also assisting and overseeing freelance editors when contracted by the Producer and working with assembly edits prepared by others in the team. S/he works closely with the producer, archivist and production controller to ensure a seamless flow of work from ingest through to delivery and archive.The post holder ensures the high quality of our films both technically and creatively. S/he provides the finished product in a variety of formats as required, uploading to YouTube or playing out as requested.Working closely with our nominated support company, s/he is responsible for the oversight of software and hardware maintenance in edit suite facility, ensuring that the edit stations are maintained to a high level and constantly available. Working with the film archivist, the editor ensures best practice is maintained across all multimedia projects for logging and housekeeping media assets.Applied skills/knowledge and expertise• 2-3 years Avid editing experience• Extensive experience working as an editor in television, film, production or multimedia communications.• Experience of working in a fast-paced, tight turnaround environment. A confident multi-tasker.• Excellent knowledge of the latest technologies and techniques.• Self-motivated, resilient and persistent. Is able to cope with critical feedback and demonstrates an ability to work calmly under pressure and to deadline while remaining respectful to the work, deadlines and targets of others. Able and willing to adapt worked hours in response to an emergency.• Proven track record of working independently to a loose brief. Proven track record of working with an edit producer to a specific brief.• An ability to identify the heart of a piece and the best way to translate visually. A willingness to work towards a strong understanding of what makes an effective piece for our particular audience.• Experience of troubleshooting in an environment with limited edit-specific technological support.• High level of interpersonal and communications skills. Able to have a dialogue with the client 4team/producer/edit producer, whilst respecting opinion and the needs of the organisation.• Sensitive to the development and international aid issues Christian Aid focuses on and the beliefs and values that underpin that work.• Proven track record of creating engaging, original, informative and creative film and/or multimedia pieces.Desirable but not essential• Experience cutting factual, fact-ent, or light documentary pieces, especially if they involve developing countries or a charity perspective.
