Purpose of the job:
The Unit Manager will work across all North Africa projects from a Production point of view. The Unit Manager will be responsible for all aspects of Production Management including scheduling. They will manage the Production Coordinator. The role will be responsible for scheduling staff/trainees who work across all the productions and will maintain all records and documentation for programmes and ensure all risk management procedures are complied with. This will be a key coordinating role between different departments to oversee production and ensure that programme recordings proceed efficiently and on time.
Main duties:
• Ensure that production, staff and trainee schedules are correct and are kept to time
• Ensure paperwork relating to production activities are completed
• Ensure that all risk assessment procedures are complete and adhered to for all productions
• Ensure health and safety guidelines are communicated to all working on productions (including trainees, consultants and staff) and that
best practice on health and safety is adhered to
• Communicate and work with other BBC Media Action teams to ensure all productions objectives are met
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
• Strong production management skills with extensive experience of working in media production, preferably in TV
• Leadership and organisational skills
• Strong understanding of BBC values and editorial guidelines
• Able to work in a fast paced environment.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time
• Able to take the initiative and be proactive in approach to production activities
• Strong communication skills
• Able to establish effective working relationships with a range of external and internal stakeholders, including staff colleagues, trainees,
consultants, project partners and suppliers
Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
• Arabic and/or French fluency
• Experience of working in the Middle East and North Africa (particularly Tunisia, Algeria and Libya)
