Coronation Street is one of ITV's most successful continuing dramas, regularly pulling in millions of viewers. As the success of Coronation Street continues to grow, we are looking for a Trainee Researcher to join our busy hard working team.

Our Trainee Researcher will work alongside our Researcher and in tandem with the story and script teams and will assist in checking all scripts and storylines for factual accuracy. You will support the writing and production teams with ongoing research and help to ensure rewrites conform to research information.

You will develop and maintain contacts with a variety of professionals to help and advise on storylines (including handling research payments if negotiated). You will assist in generating story ideas based upon factual research and conduct investigative research interviews. You will also liaise with Directors, Design, Costume and Make Up on issues relating to accuracy and continuity.

Our Trainee Researcher will have an ability to handle sensitive subject matter tactfully and have excellent communication and organisational skills. You will be a good team player with an enthusiastic and committed approach to research. You will have an ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines and have the confidence to work to your own initiative.

Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to be flexible with regards to working hours and confidentiality is a must.

This opportunity is offered on a 12 month contract, equipping the successful candidate with the desired skills and experience to service the northern freelance pool.

This role is primarily Manchester based and those invited to the next stage, must be available for an assessment day in Manchester on Tuesday 21st August 2014.
