Technical Post Production Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Post Production Manager to join our team on a permanent basis to oversee all elements of technical post-production across the two companies.
We are looking for someone to start within the next 4-6 weeks, allowing for a handover period.

Responsibilities:
- Manage edit facilities and provide on-going technical support.
- Create, develop and maintain post-production workflows and documentation.
- Manage archiving of content for Barcroft Media (BM) and Barcroft Productions (BP), including:
- Maintaining a clear and comprehensive master log of material (physical and digital).
- Scheduling of daily/weekly back ups and associated maintenance.
- Advising production teams on best practices.
- Manage movement of all media for BM and BP, including:
- Review of incoming content at a technical level to ensure it meets desired standards and specifications.
- Handling all ingest, transcoding and preparation requirements.
- Advising on best practices and recommendations of shared storage systems.
- Supply quotes for any in-house spend on workflows, equipment, and performance upgrades.
- Preparation of final delivery to broadcasters for BP, including:
- Liaising with external post-production facilities in conjunction with production managers.
- Supply of necessary paperwork and deliverables to PM's (i.e EDLs, footage for LTOs etc)
- Liaising with broadcasters in conjunction with production managers.
- Supplying deliverables for production blue files after delivery of project.
- Assist with internal IT procedures and practices including troubleshooting, maintenance error free reporting and liaising with external suppliers and services.
- Oversee the movement and maintenance of all in-house camera equipment.
- Assist BM and BP production teams with ad-hoc enquiries regarding technical shooting practice (i.e frame rate, cameras etc).
- Provide strategic assessment of current editing software (predominantly Final Cut Pro, alongside Adobe Premiere) to determine a plan for migration to new software across the company, including associated costs, risks and benefits.
- Assist with assessment and integration of any prospective third-party post-production systems.
Essential Skills & Experience:
All candidates must have the following:
- Demonstrable involvement at Post Production Manager/Post Producer level within a similar business and post-production operation.
- Strong technical background, with an understanding of broadcast technical standards.
- Experience of working with a range of NLE's (non-linear editing systems) including Final Cut Pro and Adobe Creative Cloud essential, and preferably experience with Avid.
- Experience of managing budgets and effective financial control.
- Analytical skills enabling the ability to assess internal and client needs, and working collaboratively to propose technical/workflow solutions.
- Excellent organisation, communication and problem-solving skills, and a good eye for detail.
- Experience of managing staff, and day-to-day relationships with clients.
