Technical Operations Assistant

London

This role is critical to the success of our business as a whole; the requirement for our broadcast partners to receive accurate, concise information from motivated, enthusiastic people who are proud to be involved in the distribution of some of the world's leading sporting content. The role entails building relationships with international broadcasters and as such, requires an individual with the ability to form strong, dynamic and long-lasting contacts around the globe, both inside and outside of the business.

A key aspect of the role involves understanding how software systems are used, fed and function in a sports media business and applying knowledge of varying sports competition formats to those systems, plus grasping the importance involved in the booking and technical distribution of sports content on a global basis.

The Technical Operations Assistant will be mainly responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the newly-built online booking tool (OBT), ensuring both internal & external users get maximum benefits from it; this tool, over the coming period, will become a key driver in delivering information to all stakeholders. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for assisting the Technical Distribution Executive with the account management of certain sporting properties' technical distribution.

Some of the the responsibilities within this role will include the following:

• Working closely with Project Managers to acquire broadcaster and specific property-related data
• Creating and populating broadcaster contact records in the OBT
• Assigning user profiles and security restrictions relevant to user requirements, both internal and external
• Populating software with accurate fixture details for broadcasters to then select via their HTML5 interface
• Entering technical costs and revenues onto the OBT linked to particular broadcasters and properties
• Running excel exports for the finance teams regarding broadcaster technical access charges on a weekly/monthly/quarterly basis
• Being main point of contact for broadcasters with OBT bugs and/or issues
• Monitoring the OBT, working closely with the software supplier for the reporting of issues alongside ongoing further development work
• Testing new features on the OBT before rolling out to broadcasters
• Understanding the basics of global satellite distribution of sporting content
• Assisting the Technical Distribution Executive with booking of satellite uplinks and capacity for particular properties
• Collating satellite/distribution details for either direct upload into the OBT or for email communication to broadcasters
• Rapidly establishing a good working relationship with colleagues and other professionals both internally and externally who we want

The ideal candidate will have the following experience and preferred qualifications:

• Experience in the sports media industry beneficial but not essential
• Strong understanding and experience of computer software and data entry
• Good experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Solid comprehension of broadcast-related terminology and industry standards
• Good understanding of traditional content distribution via satellite and fibre
• Degree qualified or equivalent

• An ability to communicate clearly under pressure whether via email, in person or telephone
• Exceptional attention to detail

• An interest in developing their knowledge and participation in the digital broadcast space
