Technology Operations provides support for studios and broadcast infrastructure, support for digital production systems and systems management, as well as support for PC and Mac desktops across domestic and international offices. Technology Operations also provides operational switching and monitoring of incoming and outgoing live and pre recorded material across a range of BBC output, business continuity, broadcast duty management and a range of operational support services.Role Equipment Centre staff are responsible for the provision of portable technical equipment and related consumables. Technical Assistants and Technical Coordinators ensure that equipment is maintained and available for use, allocated to programme teams as required and monitored and tracked to ensure maximum utilisation of assets. They will advise programme makers on the use of the kit that is being hired. Production Services are looking for a Technical Assistant to join the Technical Co-ordinator in Glasgow. Technical Assistants are concerned with the preparation and basic maintenance of equipment, dealing with programme teams in relation to their bookings and advising on equipment set up, and ensuring stock is accurately recorded and tracked.Requirements Candidates are required to have a detailed understanding of programme making and the needs of production staff, particularly in relation to self-op production, experience of using broadcast / production equipment and detailed technical knowledge of audio and visual equipment used in programme making. Good planning and organisational skills with a keen attention to detail and strong time management skills with a proven ability to prioritise is essential.
