Job Title: Studio Trainee (full time)
Location: EC1 & WC2
Reporting to: Ted Donnelly, Studio Manager
Hours of work: 08:30 - 17:30
Remuneration: £14,500 per annum
Holiday: 25 days per annum
Start date: Monday 4th January 2016
Essential requirements:
• Keen, enthusiastic, capable (can-do attitude) and willingness to learn
• Punctual and reliable - most events are live
• Warm, confident, welcoming with diplomatic skills. It is of critical importance to the end client that all speakers (often Barristers and Accountants) are treated with the utmost courtesy and professionalism.
• Basic technical skills. (We build our own encoders, edits and service equipment).
Basic skills expected (white balancing a camera, remove a cough in the edit) though advanced training will be provided. The role involves some lifting moving tripods and equipment. After three month probation the position will be re-viewed and hopefully promoted to Studio Operator with an increase to £15,000
Key role functions:
Live Studio Webinars:
• Wiring of participants' microphones
• Filming on Sony HDV camcorders
• Recording and Live mixing on Newtek's Tricaster 850 vision mixer
• Live Encoding of Windows media and Flash content
• Production control of streaming to mobile/tablet devices
• Running webcast software to synchronize PowerPoint presentations
• Monitoring of the web-facing output
Recorded (non Live) events
• Editing skills would be beneficial (Adobe CC)
• Uploading, data transfer & encoding
There are also various filming and potential live streams on location. At the manager's discretion, you may also be involved in:
• Studio bookings and liaison
• Studio tours
• Maintenance, Studio upkeep and housekeeping
• Encoding - general
• Editing and post production
• Statistical reporting, analysis and quality checking
Back-up and Archiving
Key routines post live events and recordings revolve around the efficient backing up and archiving of recording materials, and editing of selected shoots.
Bonus requirements (not essential):
• Adobe CC editing skills in Premiere, Encoder, After Effects & Photoshop
• Understand the components of a PC and able to update RAM, a HDD etc
• Encode formats (bit rate, codec etc)
• Audio editing experience.
