Sky News is looking for a Specialist Content producer to join the current team. This role involves working with one or more Specialist Correspondents on agenda-setting stories in our exciting and innovative newsroom. We're looking for someone with incisive journalistic instincts; a track record in producing creative and original video content; a knowledge of and enthusiasm for journalism on digital platforms. News judgement, collaborative skills, and a honed and focused appetite for a story are required.

The position will report to the Team Leader - Specialist Content Producers.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain excellent knowledge of the designated specialism(s), and a voracious appetite for the offerings of our competitors on all platforms.
• Generate ideas for original content, and for original and exciting ways to cover major stories in your specialisms.
• Help to maintain the news diary of your specialisms.
• Work with News Desk to ensure we are creating the right balance of content; video, text, blogs, polls, graphics etc.
• Take ownership and accountability for the look and feel, editorial quality and relevance of content across all platforms; ensuring content is aligned with the Sky News objectives and values.
• Help the Team leader - Specialist Content Producers, the Head of Home Planning, or any Senior Manager, in special or unusual projects that may from time to time be commissioned.
• When required, to work as a field producer anywhere in the United Kingdom or overseas.
• Support your Correspondents and Camera Crews in any news gathering requests they may from time to time.
• Build and maintain relationships with other parts of the organization such as the Bureaus, Output, News Gathering and Operations teams. Ensure as far as possible that lines of communication within and across departments are clear and workable.

Candidate Specification

• Experience of a high level and high pressure editorial environment, possibly having contributed content to more than one platform.
• Excellent news judgement and the confidence to organise and deliver your plans.
• Evidence of creative aptitude and enthusiasm - on television and on digital platforms.
• Organisational ability; a talent for enrolling others into your vision, and experience of working in a large newsroom.
• A voracious drive to beat the opposition on your Specialism(s).
