Social Media Internship

London

The purpose of this role is to support the social media and community activity of the UK's hit music destination, capitalfm.com, and partner site thebigmusicproject.co.uk. You'll also help support our radio teams broadcasting to 7.7 million radio listeners across the UK, our TV channel Capital TV, and join us at our world-famous events including the Summertime Ball and Jingle Bell Ball.

The Big Music Project (TBMP) is a unique initiative led by the UK's biggest music and entertainment to deliver societal change and transform the lives and career prospects of young people aged 14-24 through music. You'll be working closely with the TBMP team in Global Charities to promote the campaign across social media and keep it plugged into the digital strategy for capitalfm.com.

What you'll be doing

Stay on top of the latest trends and conversations across social media and artist communities relevant to the Capital/Big Music Project brands.

Work with the Capital Interactive team to help support the daily conversation across our various social media platforms.

Work with The Big Music Project team to help raise awareness of the campaign and communicate key messaging in the social media space.

Develop content ideas for The Big Music Project website and

Contribute to the planning and implementation of social media activity at our key events (Summertime Ball, Jingle Bell Ball, BRITs etc)

Work with Managing Editor to manage relationships with key fan communities and digital partners online relevant to Capital and its ongoing activity.

Support the Capital radio teams as and when required with the use of social media platforms during their broadcast.

Provide social media support at The Big Music Live and On Tour events.

Experience & skills

Experience in writing/journalism.

Strong communication skills, written and verbal.

Relevant brand experience or great brand knowledge.

Self-starting, enterprising and ready to deliver ideas.

Experience in the use of Photoshop would be advantageous.

Basic understanding of Capital's key broadcast channels.

Passion for social media and knowledge of fan communities online.

Relentless enthusiasm for online/interactive and its relation to offline media.
