Senior Video Editor

Editor or Camera Operator?
For this role, first and foremost, you must be a talented Video Editor. If you also have camera op ability and you like the idea of splitting your time between editing and working on location, this is something we can also facilitate.

Job Summary
You'll be working within our video team with a focus on the edit of our more demanding, creative and complex video projects. Our showreel should give you a flavour of the kind of things we've done in the past, but at RV we are constantly trying to push the envelope, year on year our clients trust us more, provide greater budgets and increasingly rely on our creative ability. We need a Video Editor that can help us test the limits of creativity and push boundaries, if that sounds like you, then please read on.

Job Remit
• Be involved at all stages of the creative process, from initial interpretation of the client brief, to having input on the storyboard/treatment, creating a visual style, shooting on location, managing the media and producing the final edit.
• Keep up to date with new technology within this and other related industries, consider the impact new tech will have on the working methods at RV and ultimately our offering to clients. Advise the Board of Directors on future equipment purchases.
• Be able to offer advice to our video team. Add further value by helping to coach and improve the techniques used by other employees.

Your line manager will be one of our Video Producers and work alongside our other video editors and camera operators.

Key Skills, Experience and General Outlook
Positive thinking and willingness to learn will always be considered alongside experience and current skill set. To achieve the upper-level of the salary range you must provide evidence that you have exceeded each of the key skills required. If you don't have the relevant experience and require further training to reach the required skill level, this will be reflected in the salary we will offer the successful candidate.

Key Skills
• You will be an expert editor. We use Premier at RV, if this is not your "native" software but you are a talented editor that is willing to learn Premier, please apply.
• Great understanding of video & narrative. You quickly get to grips with the message a client wishes to convey and you can develop the story during the edit.
• Creative flair. You establish a vision for your edits and create beautiful videos.
• Able to use both Macs and PCs

Experience
• At least five years of experience as an editor in a commercial capacity, working on commercial projects.
• Proven experience of delivering multiple projects within tight time-frames.
• Previous experience working within a digital agency or video production company is essential.

General Outlook
• An energetic and positive approach to work.
• You need to enjoy problem solving and figuring out the most efficient solution.
• A real passion for film making and a desire to push the boundaries and deliver the best possible visual content.
• Great journalistic understanding of video and narrative. You quickly get to grips with the message a client is trying to convey and you can develop that story during the edit.
• Non-smoking applicants are preferred as we can't accommodate smoking breaks outside of the lunch break.

Salary: £27-£31k

Hours of Work: 42.5 hours per week, flexible working day with 'core hours' 9am-5pm (Overtime is a rarity)

Annual Leave (includes Bank Holidays): 28 days (flexible up to 33 days with pro-rata salary reduction)

Pension: Contribution to a pension in line with the mandatory Workplace pension scheme
