Senior Producer - Digital Video

London

This person would lead the technical and editorial development of digital video production for international digital services.

They would be in charge of strategy, accountable for meeting editorial objectives and goals based on traffic metrics, working alongside a counterpart from the Sales team. This could include exploring and engaging in partnerships with third party content providers.

They will work closely with the unique sections to develop a signature video style and voice for each vertical that aligns with the overall vision of cnn digital. This will also include developing a short and long-term content strategy which in turn will include the overall look, tone, and style of our video.
This person will also ensure that all elements of production are evocative of the greater CNN digital voice, style, and design.

The Senior Producer will create a partnership with CNN.com's design leadership to ensure that the voice and tone are visually represented in the graphics, animations, and fonts used within CNN.com's signature video.
They would also be a hands-on producer, deciding day-to-day priorities, contributing to editorial and planning meetings and ensuring the needs of sponsorships are met.
They would also provide new solutions for sponsored content, they would spearhead new projects and original story-telling, they will oversee, facilitate and supervise live streams for international web and mobile services.
They will work with iReport to facilitate the integration of user-generated videos into the site and into areas of sponsored content. Where appropriate, they would plan, shoot and edit original videos in the field.
They will also help us extend the production of original video story-telling beyond Atlanta into London, with the Senior Producer identifying and working on a series of compelling stories through the use of all available media including video, still imagery, graphics, animations and text.

This person will execute all aspects of digital video production, including publishing via the CNN digital publishing tools, story conceptualization and shoot planning, field production and post production when relevant, video shooting and editing and writing.

The Senior Producer manages the video output for CNN.com International and its mobile services, ensuring the most relevant and latest TV packages and interviews are reflected online. He or she will organize, prioritise and delegate the different demands for VOD, working closely with all London departments, especially the site producers, show teams and Desk, and also the video editors in Atlanta.
They would directly manage junior members of the video team in London and also oversee the video editors allocated to CNN.com International from Media Ops in Atlanta, and be responsible for the appraisal and annual review process.
The Senior Producer will use the resources of CNN Worldwide to enrich CNN.com video production with expert training and guidance. The Senior Producer will conceptualize, oversee and implement the signature storytelling voice of digital video. For original video, it will include developing distinct production techniques, shooting style, lighting, editing, music, etc.

Some travel both locally and long distance to execute all aspects of news production may be required, dictated by the editorial agenda.
This person will also be responsible for following new production techniques, tools, and trends and for mentoring and potentially training some of the junior production staff members and non-video personnel.
The Senior Producer will also assist in managing and maintaining video production equipment. Most of the day-to-day work will be taken up servicing site needs and ensuring the video on the site is the best and latest, and that the headlines and images associated with clips are of the highest editorial standard.
They will attend editorial meetings and be expected to contribute original ideas and coverage plans. Within this job there is also scope to pioneer original video content for the site out of the London bureau. This could be either using his or her own skills as a video shooter and editor, or working in tandem with a show team or a field team to produce distinct stories primarily for web and mobile platforms.
This part of the job is likely to include shot composition, graphics and effects creation as well as working with music as called for within pieces. TV/Web production, journalism or new media or mass media studies.

Minimum of 2 years video producing/editing experience at a major online publication/network or major market level TV facility or production facility including field production experience.
Video shooting experience also mandatory.
Must have solid news judgment and news writing experience. Expert experience working on Final Cut Pro.
Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and understanding of Adobe After Effects.
Overall knowledge of digital production tools including FTP, conversion tools, and an understanding of multiple video formats/codecs.

Individual must be a multi-tasking, multi-skilled producer/editor/shooter with strong creative and visual storytelling skills.
Must not be afraid to take risks.
Must be a self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Must be able to balance multiple tasks and communicate effectively with outside resources as well as various internal and overseas newsrooms and departments.
Must be highly detail oriented with the ability to understand complex technical processes and adapt to new technologies.
Must be able to accept guidance and constructive criticism during the editorial/technical production process.
Must be open to travel with the ability to work a flexible work schedule Travel will be intermittent and will be based on news cycle and editorial requirements.
Person must be able to lift, carry, and transport and operate technical production gear.
