This role is within the Performance Contracting Department which negotiates fees and terms for contributors such as actors, musicians and presenters.We're looking for two Rights Assistants to join our team. One Rights Assistant will work with TV Drama (eg Silk, Silent Witness) and the other Rights Assistant will work with Comedy, Entertainment and News and Current Affairs (eg Thick of It, Strictly Come Dancing, Newsnight and the News Channel).The Talent & Rights Negotiation Group (TRNG) is responsible for contracting contributors and acquiring rights for the BBC's in-house programmes. They're also responsible for obtaining the rights required to enable the BBC to make further use of programme content in both the BBC's public services and commercially. RoleAssisting the Rights Executives, you'll be liaising with production departments on matters relating to engaging artists and performance rights as well as negotiating artists fees within limits. In addition, you will be working within a small team and will be the point of contact for callers to the department as well as provide general administrative support. Also, and as appropriate, you'll be advising on the relevant contracts, union agreements and guidelines for our Commercial Rights and Business Affairs departments and BBC Worldwide. RequirementsTo be successful in this role, we're looking for candidates with superb communication skills both written and verbal. You'll be managing a variety of relationships, so it's important to have strong communication, negotiation and influencing and persuading skills. You'll have the ability to remain calm, organised, focused and accurate under pressure when working to tight deadlines you will have experience of maintaining office and administrative systems as well as improving systems or devising new ones where appropriate. In addition, you must have excellent attention to detail and numeracy skills and have an advanced knowledge of MS Office, Word and Excel, as well as experience of working with different databases. You'll have a demonstrable understanding of rights acquisitions, clearance policies and procedures as well as an informed and broad interest in the media and the BBC's output.
