Production Intern (12 months)

The TLC channel is available in more than 165 markets and to over 260 million viewing subscribers outside the US. It is the most widely distributed female entertainment brand in pay-tv. In the Production and Development department, we commission programs that will air in all these territories, which includes the UK, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Asia, Australia and Latin America.

Overall Purpose of the Role

We are looking for a talented, driven and hardworking individual to join the DNI (Discovery Networks International) Factual Entertainment Department as a P&D Intern. With a passion for factual-entertainment and reality programming, you will work to the Executive Producers, supporting our key TLC titles and gain valuable media industry knowledge and specific work skills. Through hands on training, internal work shadowing and external production placement, you will be introduced to the best in the business. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience of program making first hand, learn how a broadcaster operates from the inside and increase your network base.

Responsibilities:
• Research projects pertaining to P&D, including gathering intelligence on the industry, material and data for focus groups, weekly bulletins and internal/external presentations
• Keep up to date via newspapers, magazines, and social media to identify possible new talent and potential programme ideas
• Manage our internal screening rooms and the creation of presentation reels, clips and program footage
• Assist with the management and manage all Lifestyle and Entertainment submissions; treatments, taster tapes and pilots submitted from UK and Independent producers
• Maintain relationships with key stakeholders throughout the business as a point of contact for any production requests
• Where required, provide editorial support for our independent producers
• Act as admin support for P&D when required

Requirements:

Desirable Skills/Experience required

? A keen multi-tasker with a 'Can do' attitude,
? Strong research and writing skills
? Resourceful attitude
? Technically minded with a working knowledge of cameras and edit systems (specifically Final Cut) and presentation packages (such as Keynote and PPT) would be advantageous

A degree in media production (or similar) is not a pre-requisite but will be taken into account. More important is a demonstrable, exemplary passion for TV, world knowledge of current programs, and a proven interest in pursuing a career in production.

Please note this position is based in London. This Internship will run for 12 months starting from 1st July 2016; interviews are likely to take place in May 2016; we request that you only apply if you can commit to these periods.
