We are looking for a bright, enthusiastic and social media savvy assistant to join our busy Press & Publicity team. Someone who loves TV, has top notch communication skills - both in person, on paper and in digital - someone who is organised and happy to get stuck in, and who is hungry to kick off their career as a TV publicist. You will get to work as part of Channel 4's consumer press team on some of the most talked about shows on TV, offering administrative and creative support whilst learning the ropes. THE DEPARTMENTThe Press & Publicity team is responsible for promoting and defending all aspects of Channel 4, in all dealings with the external media, especially the press. The goals of the Press & Publicity department are:• To enhance perceptions of Channel 4's reputation by positively promoting its vision, remit, channels, services, programmes, strategies, initiatives, performance and people• To increase viewing to Channel 4's channels, programmes and services• To stimulate debate about Channel 4's programmes and the subject matter of those programmes• To protect Channel 4's reputation by defending its vision, remit, channels, services, programmes, strategies, initiatives, performance and peopleKEY RESPONSIBILITIES- To provide efficient administrative support to the press and publicity team - reporting to the Group Publicity Manager of your assigned team- To deal with general enquiries from journalists via phone, email and face to face- To work alongside the other press assistants to provide weekly programme press information and preview material- To support the team in creatively promoting content and programmes - coming up with ideas and helping to implement them as part of a targeted publicity strategy - To assist at press launches, screenings and press events - managing guest lists and looking after talent- To use your passion for social and digital media to enhance PR campaigns and develop contacts with influencers- To deal with production companies, commissioning editors and other stakeholders - representing Channel 4 in a positive wayJOB FACTORS Essential requirements:(Knowledge/Skills/Experience)• A passion for the media and TV• An interest in working for Channel 4 and an understanding of its vision, objectives and brand values• Relevant experience in a busy office environment• Experience using the full MS Office suite• Experience using and a good understanding of key social media platforms• Excellent written and verbal communications• Strong organisational and practical skills• A keen attitude and a willingness to learn• Ability to work accurately to tight deadlines• Ability to work both as part of a close-knit team and independently• The ability to cope in a busy environment and be able to prioritise and manage several tasks at onceDesirable:• Experience of working within a PR team• Experience of working in Broadcast Media• A long-term desire to make it in PR• Flexibility, initiative, patience, perseverance and commitment
