Presentation Scheduler

London

The Presentation Scheduler is responsible for the day to day creation of the transmission schedules using the Channel Management System ('What On'). This includes building break formats, scheduling all interstitial and sponsorship material, the integration of music and commercial files and the scheduling of secondary events (GFX).

Channel Operations is responsible for the creation of daily presentation schedules that are commercially and editorially accurate and on brand. Ensuring they meet all the requirements of transmission and are Ofcom compliant. The daily duties vary from attending editorial meetings, creating programme formats, scheduling all interstitial primary and secondary events, implementing brand strategy, processing reports, reacting to discrepancies and managing internal and external relationships. As well as these, Channel Operations plays a crucial role in any channel launches, rebrands and business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Presentation
· Build skeleton Presentation schedules using channel management system to ensure that enough time has been allowed to play programmes and have the correct amount of time for breaks.
· Update and check Presentation schedule as appropriate. This is in reaction to changes of programme slots or part durations, the availability of interstitial copy such as promos or break bumpers, or compliance issues with any scheduled material.
· Insert continuity output - depending on channel requirements.
· Insert promos into Presentation schedule as detailed by the Media Planning department. Schedulers are required to liaise with Media Planning department to resolve any discrepancies and therefore make the most effective use of promotional inventory for the available spots.
· Check and download transmission schedule to transmission enabling channel to go to air successfully. Ensuring that the schedule is editorially and Ofcom compliant.
· Compilation of As-Run schedules and programme files which accurately reflect what actually went to air.
· Schedule GFX navigational elements. These might include bugs, clip titles, menus, pop ups etc.
· Ensure all sponsorship bumpers are scheduled according to the instructions given by the Channel Operations Manager

Graphics
· Up to date understanding of all of the channels graphics techniques and requirements
· Liaise with internal departments for the delivery of broadcast ready GFX for light switches, stunts or bespoke events.
Scheduling of any secondary events required in addition to the GFX style sheets as instructed by the Channel Operations ManagerRole-Specific Skills/Attributes

Knowledge & Experience
· Experience as a Presentation Scheduler or a comparable role at a competitor channel is desirable but not essential.
· Demonstrable knowledge of programmes across the UK Viacom portfolio and the ability to discuss the issues that affect them.
· Should be aware of current trends in Presentation, Promotions, Media Planning and GFX and possess an avid interest in the television industry.
· Knowledge of a windows based Channel Management System.
· Excellent communication skills
· Demonstrate ability to be flexible and work well under pressure
· Knowledge of broadcast industry

o Understanding of channel's kit of parts
o Understanding of content workflow

Judgement & Decisions
· Rigorous at time management and able to re-prioritise workload frequently throughout the day. This will be in response to late changes or other issues that will have an effect on today's schedule or a schedule for some day in the future

Scope & Responsibility
· The Presentation Scheduler may have to deputise for the Senior Presentation Scheduler and represent the department in regular channel and editorial meetings. This is to offer a Channel Operations insight when future projects are being discussed.
· Actively participate in department meetings and brainstorms to ensure that the schedules meet the highest standards and are competitive in the market place.
