Managing Editor

We're looking for an experienced Programmer to lead the Heart Thames Valley Programming team based in Reading. You will be across the day-to-day management of all aspects of the Heart Thames Valley Programming department.

What you will be doing;

You'll be responsible for all aspects of the output of Heart across Berkshire & Oxfordshire, and for growing our audience. You'll lead, develop and coach the local programming team, providing excellent and efficient leadership for the team. You will manage and monitor the key performance audience and marketing indicators to ensure the whole team meets their objectives. Encourage and build a relationship of genuine partnership with the local and national commercial teams.

Specifically;

Locally implement the Heart brand strategy and plan
Coach the Breakfast and Drive talent daily. Conduct detailed weekly monitors, setting weekly measurable actions to ensure continued development of the teams to ensure they are motivated and achieving their full potential
Devise and maintain a continually rolling 100-day marketing plan that encompasses on-air, street marketing, press, PR, charity and SPI.
Work closely with the Regional News Editor to ensure the station's news output is delivered according to the Heart Network news guidelines - on brand, local, relevant and engaging.
Devise and deliver local SPI solutions that are relevant, entertaining and engaging for both our clients and audience.
Work closely with the local teams to ensure we are meeting all our 'local' obligations internally and externally, ensuring we maximize the split link technology available.
Oversee the station website and social media platforms to ensure timely updating of content to help hit set targets.
Make sure all content complies with all rules and regulations applicable to the stations broadcast output, including any requirements or guidance issued by Ofcom
Identify and develop new talent

What we expect of you

Effectively coach, and inspire the local programming team to deliver great content on air, maintaining pace and momentum at all times.
Work with the team to achieve the shared Programming Spotlight goals and RAJAR. Regularly setting new stretching standards and goals.
Embrace change quickly, using innovation in generating great ideas to enhance content and overall station sound
Understand and empathise with the needs of internal and external commercial clients, delivering great ideas and results for both our audience and clients.
Analyse problems in the context of the station objectives, by using creativity and judgement to choose the right solutions in a timely manner.

Experience

Experienced Managing Editor
Solid knowledge of the Heart brand
History of working with experienced talent
Engineering and technical skills
Sound programming judgment in a commercial environment.
