Head of Production

THE ROLE
To supervise Pinewood Pictures projects through development, pre-production, principal photography, post production and delivery. Responsibilities concentrate in areas of budget, schedule, personnel and production value. The role requires an understanding of business affairs, acquisitions, development and finance.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Assessing production budgets, schedules and viable routes to production.
• Supervising and monitoring all projects.
• Representing Pinewood Pictures within the Pinewood Group and with the various departments, mainly post production, sales, facilities and Pinewood Lighting & Pinewood Creative.
• Attending and contributing to group tracking meetings.
• Reading selected submitted scripts.
• Occasionally preparing budgets/schedules from script where required, or adapting existing budgets to assess alternate production scenarios.
• Advising on Welsh, Isle of Man and Pinewood production spend.
• Collating location options for producers and introducing them to crew and suppliers.
• Planning and attending recces as required in the Isle of Man, Wales or at Pinewood studio sites.
KEY COMPETENCIES
• Expertise in all areas of production of both TV and Film, with a working knowledge & understanding of production budgets, schedules, processes and procedures.
• Demonstrable financial skills.¿
• Ability to communicate effectively and knowledgably.
• Working knowledge of the professional bodies that support the British film industry (Production Guild, PACT, Creative Skillset, BECTU, Equity etc).
• Friendly approach, positive attitude and professional discretion are essential to ensuring good relations with other film businesses, producers and the governments whose media funds Pinewood Pictures represent.
• Ability to multi-task, work fast, switch focus quickly under pressure and maintain attention to detail.
• Good computer and system skills including Movie Magic Budgeting and Scheduling, Excel, Outlook and Word and an aptitude for learning new systems.
• Ability to work efficiently, accurately and autonomously.
