Graphics Internship (3-6 month paid)

Job Title: Graphics Intern (3-6 months Internship)

Reporting to: Managing Director

Location: Edinburgh EH12 9EG

Purpose of Role: This role is a three-six months Internship focussed on creating professional and appropriate graphic designs, supporting the Graphics Designer within the Metro Ecosse Team. This position would suit a person who is friendly, professional and who enjoys working in a fast paced environment. You will have a natural ability to remain flexible, adaptable and can prioritise tasks with ease. This is an ideal opportunity to gain valuable experience working for an Events, Broadcast and Media Services company.

Person Profile: The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, has a strong ethic towards delivering excellent customer service with a positive approach and attitude to work, together with a passion for the Events Service Industry.

Key Responsibilities:
• To assist with creating professional and appropriate graphic designs to support pitches, tender documents and projects.
• To create Graphic Designs for sets including 3D animated fly-throughs, 3D animation for video strings, inserts and titles; Exhibition design; Power Point Creation; Brochures; Story Boarding; Cad drawings.
• Assist to develop relationships with key suppliers; printing or display companies.
• To attend client briefings with project managers or producers.
• To be a point of contact for client discussions, updates and approvals of designs in progress.
• To assist with creating conceptual visuals for producers and project managers, incorporating their ideas.
• To work as a design resource for external clients and internal Metro Ecosse departments.
• To assist with compressing video for all manner of applications (for MPEG 1, MPEG 2).
• To carry out any other reasonable requests as instructed by the Graphics Designer or Managing Director that are considered appropriate for the job role or to advance career development.

Essential:
• Educated to degree level, (preferably in design), or able to demonstrate relevant career experience/s;
• Sound knowledge and experience of After Effects and 3D Studio Max;
• Sound knowledge & experience of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PPP, & Outlook;
• Sound communication and people skills; able to work with a variety of people at all levels;
• Experienced with providing excellent client management: act as the direct point of contact for handling client queries and discussions, updates and approvals of designs in progress;
• Have a technical, creative and methodical mind-set and approach to work;
• Sound planning and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail;
• Able to perform well under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.

Desirable:
• Experience of working within the broadcast / events / media sectors.
