Summary of Role:
Non-linear editor specialising in a wide variety of deliverables, covering digital, creative,
animated and news packages. Basic graphical animation skills would also be required,
alongside a technical knowledge of file compression, codecs and formats for broadcast,
online and social platforms. The role will also require significant levels of travel for on-site
editing, as well as out of hours working.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Creating high quality videos (online editorial, social, trailers, creative films etc)
- Delivering broadcast quality content (predominantly in B-Roll form)
- Ability to receive, comprehend and deliver output to brief
- Meet deadlines and managing internal & external expectations
- Ensuring all work is of the highest quality and with clear attention to detail
- Work is always delivered to the strictest of deadlines
- Ensuring that all projects and files are correctly managed and assigned
- Work alongside Senior Editors on projects or in isolation
- Ensure edit systems are optimised for professional use
- Able to pickup other editor's projects to create a seamless result for the client
- Engage with team discussions and decisions to improve the department
Tasks:
Tasks vary depending on what campaigns / briefs are being handled at the time.
Competent use of Adobe Premiere and accompanying software (After Effects / Motion) is
key, as this will be used on a daily basis. Daily tasks also often involve the professional
use of compression software, where finished projects are encoded and passed to the
DNA team where files are uploaded for clients/broadcasters to view/download online.
Further tasks are:
- Creating high quality videos to often very tight deadlines
- Working on-location in high-speed turnaround environment (globally)
- Preparing, setting up and configuring software for new projects within edit and
graphic design software
- Ability to think creatively for the generation of new ideas applied to work and for
the composition of video edits.
- To be able to communicate clearly (both written and verbally) across all sectors
- Desire to up-skill both personally & departmentally in order to service all areas of
the business
Essential Skills:
- Adobe Premiere Pro CC (strong) & Final Cut Pro (strong)
- Adobe After Effects / Motion (intermediate)
- Photoshop (intermediate)
- Grading packages - such as Looks, Magic Bullet or Colour (intermediate)
- Understanding of sound scrubbing and design
- Compression/transcoding software i.e. Compressor, MPEG Streamclip, Adobe
Media Encoder (strong)
- Preparing, setting up and configuring software for new projects within edit and
graphic design software
- Good communication skills with clients/TVC account handlers
- Ability to work in a team and independently
- Strong technical knowledge and problem-solver
- Excellent time keeping and ability to work to strict deadlines
