Development Trainee (Paid Internship)

Creative Access was founded in 2012 to provide opportunities for paid internships in the creative industries for young people of graduate (or equivalent standard) from under-represented black, Asian and other minority ethnic backgrounds (BAME) to increase diversity and address the imbalance in the sector. Tiger Aspect are teaming up with Creative Access for a third successive year and are looking for a Development Trainee to join their Comedy Entertainment department for a six month internship.

Tiger Aspect's Comedy Entertainment Development Team are responsible for developing quiz shows, panel shows, talent-led shows, entertainment formats, live events and reality shows for all the major broadcasters. The successful intern will learn about, and contribute to all aspects of the development process and will be given the opportunity to assist with the brainstorming process for new comedy entertainment programme ideas, recommend talent and develop key projects and game show ideas.
The ideal candidate will love and immerse themselves in all genres of television, especially comedy entertainment. They will know all the key reference points in comedy entertainment TV, and be able to watch television analytically, whilst enjoying it at the same time! They will have an understanding of what constitutes a format, and why some work and others don't.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
• Research skills
• Administrative skills
• Picture researching and typesetting skills
• How to source contestants, props and various content for shows
• Proof reading skills
• How to assist with the maintenance of the talent and commissioning databases
• How to develop key projects, organise brainstorming sessions and help with quality control
• How to recommend talent and build relationships with talent and agents
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
• Passion for TV, especially comedy entertainment shows
• Good knowledge of popular culture and current affairs
• Award of current TV ratings and recently commissioned shows
• Bursting with creative and original ideas
• Strong writing skills
• Photoshop and PowerPoint would be advantageous
• Practical and multimedia skills (camera/editing) are a plus but not essential
