Main duties:Staff:• Instructing, motivating and fully utilising staff, including delegating work within theElectrics Department.• When required, organising the staff rota, ensuring that it meets the requirements ofReally Useful Theatres Group and those of the visiting production company and thatstaff working hours are compliant with the SOLT/BECTU Agreement and the WorkingTime Directive.• When required, accurately completing timesheets for staff within the ElectricsDepartment ensuring they are submitted on time and in line with the SOLT/BECTUAgreement.• When required, submitting holiday request forms to the Theatre Manager for allmembers of the department, keeping accurate records and informing the TheatreManager of any incidents of absenteeism.• Providing training and encouraging a knowledgeable department.Health and Safety:• Ensuring that the Company's Health and Safety Policy and Alcohol and Drugs MisusePolicy are adhered to by all Electrics Department Staff.• Advising the visiting company/Stage Manager of any practice associated with theProduction which he/she considers to be unsafe.• Assisting in the production of a risk assessment for each new production and to providecopies to the Theatre Manager and Operations Director.• Ensuring that recommendations contained within the risk assessments for both theshow and the building are implemented.• Ensuring that all electrical equipment is maintained to a high standard and that portableappliances are regularly tested in accordance with recommended guidelines.• Keeping accurate records of the testing and maintenance of all equipment.• Ensuring that Health and Safety equipment and Personal Protective Equipment issupplied in good condition and correctly used.Productions:• Liaising with visiting production company and Stage Management to ensure goodcommunications and the smooth running of productions.Assisting the Chief Electrician in the safe and efficient get-in, fit-up and get-out of allproductions.• Working closely with the production creative team and making every effort to achieveartistic requirements.• Ensuring the production is maintained to the highest technical standards.• Working knowledge and awareness of the cues and workload of every member of thedepartment in the running of a production.• Attending production meetings when required for either new productions or specialevents and advising on stage facilities etc.• Liaising with and supervising contractors on behalf of the visiting company.• Recognising and resolving competing needs of the visiting company and the theatre.• Completing show duties, including board operation for the production and providingtraining to new staff members.Building:• Ensuring that the electrical installation is in good order and bring any deficiencies to theattention of the Chief Electrician.• Carrying out duties throughout the building as directed by the Theatre Manager or ChiefElectrician.• Familiarity with building management systems (fire system, heating, plumbing).• Liaising and working with contractors.• In conjunction with the Chief Electrician, ensuring that all operational certifications arekept up to date.Ordering Supplies:• Assist the Chef Electrician in forwarding requisitions to the Theatre Manager for itemsessential for the maintenance of the building, ensuring appropriate stock levels.• Checking deliveries to ensure they are in accordance with orders.• Checking invoices against delivery notes.• Ordering parts as required for the production in liaison with the Chief Electrician andproduction stage managers.General:• Deputising for the Chief Electrician• Completing any other delegated duty that assists the Company achieve its businessobjectives.
