Creative Editor

The Role

We're looking for Digital Editors to work on our new courses.
In February of this year we launched a new style of online course for creative professionals. There's a lot of video, but also written content, project work, and live broadcast Q&As. It's all delivered by our proprietary online platform that allows our students to collaborate and network too.
Our target audience love our programs. They're highly engaged, using it day and night and posting hundreds of comments. And it'll be your job to make sure they stay engaged, that all of our content is compelling and tailored to our audience.
We have an in-house style for our edits, but we are open to new creative approaches. We want Digital Editors who want to get involved in the creative direction of our content and develop their skills and career with us.
Your role will be editing and shooting one of our online talent programs. So at first you'll work on either our Journalism, Accessories Design or Nail Art programs. We have a steady stream of new projects to work on, so there's enough variety to keep you interested.

The Team
You'll work in a Program Team with all the other professionals - commercial and creative - needed to create and run one of our programs. There is a lot of creative control available to each of the teams. We learn as much as we can from each of the programs we do, but we don't like to be prescriptive and provide a roadmap that has to be followed exactly. Or even at all.
The two specialists that you'll work closest with are the Producer and Editorial Assistant. You'll work with them on shoots with our feature artist, and in the edit suite back in the office.

Essential skills
Professional experience of using Premiere and Adobe Photoshop.
At least one year's experience of shooting, and a thorough understanding of camera and audio workflows.
Either a background editing long-form video, which could be documentary, tv, long-form web content, or a background in marketing and advertising and the ability to come up with promo ideas.
Experience with Aftereffects and motion graphics would be great but is not required.

You will
Work closely with the Producer and Editorial Assistant to shape the direction and content of your talent program.
Work as a shooter on studio days with the feature artists and guests on your program.
Take responsibility for editing all video content for your program.
Provide creative input and work with the Producer to ensure that all video content is as compelling and exciting as can be.
Develop, shoot and edit short promos to help advertise your talent program.
