Job Introduction

BBC Worldwide, the wholly owned commercial subsidiary of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). The company exists to maximise the value of the BBC's assets for the benefit of the licence fee payer and invest in public service programming in return for rights. BBC Worldwide operates across seven geographic regions: North America, UK, Australasia, Western Europe, Asia, Latin America, CEEMEA (Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa). The focus on geographic markets is balanced by strong global functions; this allows the company to continue on its journey from being a pure exporter of TV programmes to third party distributors, to a consumer led, integrated media player that builds its own branded services.

In 2011/12, BBC Worldwide generated profits of £155million on sales of £1085 million and returned £216m to the BBC.

BBC Earth is the global brand for all the BBC's natural history content spanning the last 50 years. The BBC is the largest producer of natural history programming in the world and the BBC Earth brand highlights the vast scale of incredible content which is produced in this genre. Visible across all platforms; TV, DVD, licensing and digital, BBC Earth encourages engagement with current as well as classic programs such as Planet Earth and The Blue Planet.
Role Responsibility

We are looking to recruit a Brand Executive within the BBC Worldwide Brands to join the BBC Earth team for 6 months maternity cover.

The role provides valuable exposure to brand management in a professional team with years of brand management experience, the opportunity to work on global iconic brands but also to assist in the launch of new brands across our portfolio.

As the Brand Executive you'll contribute to key campaigns to support this team across all brand extension activities, which includes Live Entertainment, DVD releases, Digital and Licensed Consumer Products. There is also a global element to this role and you will be required to liaise with our international offices to support their plans.

You'll support a huge variety of exciting projects, including major brand launches as well as ongoing development of key iconic Natural History brands as well as having the opportunity to work creatively on campaigns for BBC Earth.
The Ideal Candidate

You'll have previous experience at brand/marketing assistant/co-ordinator or executive level supporting a brand manager, B2C and B2B marketing across TV and/or online and managing projects/campaigns. Therefore, you'll have a strong understanding of the marketing communications disciplines, the role of a global brand and a passion for Natural History and the brands we work on as well as media and TV.

To be successful you'll have excellent communication and relationship building skills with the ability to work well to tight deadlines, under pressure whilst ensuring high standard of accuracy and attention to detail remains at all times. You must have advanced knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ideally Photoshop and CMS systems.

There will be a requirement for you to travel to the Natural History Unit in Bristol regularly.
