BBC Learning English is the award-winning English language teaching arm of BBC World Service. It produces a media rich mix of content for learners of English around the world. Content is produced in all English and bi-lingual form and delivered on various platforms including radio, TV, online and mobile. The department's Development Team now has a requirement for 2 X Bilingual ELT Producers for 9 month Attachment/Contracts. BBC World Service is part of the Global News Division which operates in a competitive multi-media market, creating and delivering content to a weekly audience of 238 million. RoleYou will be working as part of the Development Team to write and produce bilingual, multimedia ELT materials for a primarily Brazilian audience. These materials may include video, image, audio and interactive content. You'll ensure that any programme material for which the post holder is responsible is strongly audience and learner focused, and meets the standards required by the BBC. The post-holder will report to the Editor. Shift work may be required which could include nights, weekends and public holidays. The post-holder will work primarily for the Development Team, although s/he may be expected to work elsewhere in the Department (e.g. the Multimedia Team). RequirementsTo succeed in this position you'll have significant experience in creating ELT (English Language Teaching) materials. You'll have an excellent knowledge of the English language and have native-speaker level of Brazilian Portuguese. The ability to translate at the highest level between these two languages is desirable. Alongside this, you'll also have a wide and up to date familiarity with the Brazilian ELT market and an understanding of its history, politics, media, social issues and culture, as well as the changing needs of the audience. Recent and relevant experience as a radio or online producer is essential; online experience is particularly desirable.
