Associate Producer

London

VICE is the world's preeminent youth media company and content creation studio. Launched in 1994, VICE now operates in over 30 countries and distributes its programming to hundreds of millions of viewers across digital, linear, mobile, film and socials. VICE includes an international network of digital channels, a television and feature film production studio, a magazine, a record label, an in-house creative services agency, a book-publishing division and a new 24-hour TV channel, VICELAND, launched in in the UK and Ireland in September 2016.

The Role:

The Associate Producer plays a vitally important role in the production of first class films and news making content for VICE News. Working to the producer, you will be the driving force behind the development of stories and a self-starting generator of ideas. You'll need excellent news judgement, a creative flare to ensure our videos are the best in the industry, resilience when under pressure and a broad interest across a range of subjects.

Responsibilities:

• Working with the producer to pitch and develop stories, films and sequences to the highest production and news values for VICE News.
• Detailed research and development into multiple stories on various topics with a focus on EMEA content.
• Create shoots, arrange contributors and sequences to be filmed and secure relevant permissions where required.
• Respond to and gather material of breaking news content.
• Contribute to the ideas and production of short form video at base and in when in the field.
• Structure and produce film scripts to a high standard with scrupulous attention paid to accuracy and fairness.
• Effective planning and organisational skills, delivering to deadlines and within budget.
• Work with Production Manager to ensure crew is booked
• Source and organise relevant archive for films following relevant clearance procedures
• Work with Post Manager to ensure edits are booked
• Networking and representing VICE as needed at various events
• Self-shooting on the C300 MkII where necessary and is a skill preference.
• Some foreign travel, often at short notice, will be required.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Demonstrable experience within News/Current Affairs
• Clean Driving licence

Other:

• To undertake such other tasks including general administrative duties as may be required from time to time
• To be an ambassador for the business at all times.
