The Associate Producer is responsible for supporting the production, planning, organizing and executing of special section content , including revenue generating specials. The AP assists the Supervising Producer and other Producers in the smooth management of specials including cross-department communication, ensuring everyone knows which specials are scheduled for which dates, that deadlines are met by editorial, sales, design and other stakeholders, and that specials are updated and running as required across CNN sites and mobile services. This role also supports the production process by adding strong photos and art to our stories, editorial research, sourcing and day-to-day maintenance of CNN.com International, including building and updating stories, sections, special reports, sponsored sections and show pages. Helping producers manage the site. Identifying and acting on opportunities for the enhancement of site production on CNN.com. Responsibilities include: Maintaining an inventory of Specials, ensuring schedules, deadlines and requirements are fully communicated. Quality control on specials once they are published including working with producers to ensure section fronts are updated and ads are running properly. Indexing stories across CNN.com sections, special reports, sponsored content and show pages; spotting opportunities for content placement across the site, ensuring related stories and videos are cross-linked; updating feature boxes and bullet bins across CNN.com. Sourcing and cropping images, choosing and publishing the strongest images, publishing them to stories and building galleries. Ensuring social media is being optimised to build and maintain audiences. Candidates must have: Some production experience at a major news website or TV network. Good writing skills, proven record in news judgement and applying knowledge of world affairs. An active interest in social media and industry trends. A Degree or post-graduate qualification with a major emphasis on communications, TV/Web production, journalism or new media. Language skills, experience of TV production and specialist knowledge in areas like business and sport would be desirable. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate: A passion for news, strong writing skills and excellent editorial judgment. An understanding of the top stories and themes the network is following. An eye for strong photography, experience of Photoshop. The ability to write enticing and accurate headlines and summaries and captions. Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently with limited supervision. Able to remain calm and work quickly under pressure; able to prioritize and multi-task efficiently, communicating effectively with team members and other departments. Must be detail-orientated with the ability to adapt to new production technologes. Proactive, with a "can-do" attitude, able to work in a collaborative environment. Prepared to work weekends and unsociable hours.
