VICE includes an international network of digital channels, a television and feature film production studio, a magazine, a record label, an in-house creative services agency, a book-publishing division and a new 24-hour TV channel, VICELAND, launching in in the UK and Ireland in September 2016.

Role:

The primary role of the Assistant Editor is to aide all stages of the post production process from ingest and project preparation through to final delivery for short-form documentary and breaking news content. This role requires an extremely high attention to detail, a solid technical understanding and the ability to work well under pressure. Experience in a news, or similar fast-turn around, environment is highly desirable. Multiple language skills will be an advantage.

Responsibilities:

- Managing media delivered in the office, online or from the field, ensuring it is efficiently loaded into projects
- Syncing multiple camera shoots and creating string outs and selects sequences for editors
- Encoding and uploading final films to multiple platforms in the relevant format, i.e. Aframe, YouTube, Signiant and website CMS's.
- Facilitating the delivery of content to the US TV show, ensuring it's delivered to the appropriate broadcast technical specification and on time
- Creating all of the deliverables for playout inc masters, metadata and audio deliverables.
- Creating basic graphics using After Effects templates
- Quality control - Final check for subs issues, correct cards used, any drop outs, sound issues etc. before sending it to the online editor.
- General Post-Production duties; which may include ingesting of media, delivering links to Producers and general troubleshooting.
- Organising reports for music cues, transcripts and archive logs. Sending final deliverables to the producer.
- Managing and actioning editing revisions as required.
- Pushing necessary assets required to ensure edits are maintained to tight deadlines.
- Be actively aware and responsible for implementing Vice News style guide.
- Moving content from LTO tape and the Archive SAN as needed. Must have knowledge of archive tape workflows.
- Coordinating the delivery of offline assets to internal onlining. Must understand offline to online processes.
- Assisting Video Editors through all stages of the editing process including basic technical troubleshooting.
- Creating basic graphics (including motion) in After Effects using templates.
- Copy-checking English subtitles and double checking translations as required.

Other:
- To undertake such other tasks including general administrative duties as may be required from time to time.
- To be an ambassador for the business at all times.

Working Hours:
- Normal 7.5 hour day, which may be scheduled on rotation between 8am and midnight as required.
- Due to the nature of News reporting a certain degree of flexibility in working hours is expected
