JOB PURPOSE

The Assistant editor position is open to anyone who can fulfil the below responsibilities and requirements. Working under the central guidance of managing editors and the wider commercial divisions of Perform, you will be responsible for directing the editorial strategy of the Netherland edition of Goal.com.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED

General management of staff, budget (salaries, commissioning, expenses), schedules (rotas, holidays, sickness), appraisals
Traffic analysis (monitoring performance of content and developing strategy accordingly)
News editing (managing correspondents to produce exclusive news & interviews, and to shape overall news agenda)
Feature editing (commissioning and editing pre and post-match features, news-driven features, other special projects)
Match coverage (overseeing the editorial strategy and content plan on matchdays)
LIVE! Channel (defining the local voice and integrating interactive coverage across the site)
Internship (recruitment, training, general management)
Overseeing distribution and PR strategies locally in order to drive further traffic
Overseeing the integration of and locally inputting when required on betting, video and other commercial content

PERSONAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

Management experience (team/people management skills and managing the execution of projects/content plans, strong organisational and multitasking skills)
Journalism experience (five years' in online sports media, news and features editing, working high-pressure and fast-paced deadlines, innovative and strategic multi-platform planning)
Football expertise (industry-standard expertise locally are a must, as well as of Europe's top clubs and countries, and strong historical knowledge)
Profile (connections within football/media in order to continue to develop Goal.com's growing presence and reputation within the industry)
Substantial computer and web aptitude (content management systems, search engine optimisation, etc.)
Fast communication (via email, phone, instant messaging, SMS messages, etc., coordinating coverage with a team based all around the world)
Availability (evenings, weekends, public holidays as and when required to meet the needs of the business)
