The apprenticeships

These high quality apprenticeships based in London and Salford will give you all the skills and knowledge you need to be highly employable across the broadcasting industry.
The BBC Academy is working with Westminster Kingsway College to develop best-in-class courses to give apprentices a world-class foundation in Creative and Digital Media and Broadcast Production Co-Ordination.

You will have a main BBC base, but will spend periods away on study or work placements. Through a series of academic modules and industrial experience we will prepare a new generation of Production talent and Production Coordinators to help shape and support the future of broadcasting. If you apply for the Level 3 Apprenticeship you'll develop an excellent theoretical and practical understanding of the Creative and Digital Media production process and how to generate and create content and support content makers. Or if you decide the Level 4 Apprenticeship is more suited to your skills and experience it will give you the foundation skills and knowledge required to support productions in this fast moving industry setting you on the road for a future career in Production Management.

Roles

Production Apprenticeship (Level 3): You don't have to be a graduate to achieve great things in the media. Our industry needs creative people from all backgrounds and walks of life to dream up brilliant new ideas and help produce great content. You'll need good writing skills and the ability to put your thoughts across, but it's the quality and originality of your ideas that matter most. The Production Apprenticeship is a great way to get your foot in the door of the media industry. As part of the year long programme you'll complete high quality work placements with the BBC, at the same time as studying towards a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Creative and Digital Media. You'll also build up an excellent CV which will put you in a great position to compete for creative jobs in the broadcasting industry. This scheme lasts for one year, starts on 30th September 2013.

Production Co-ordinator Apprenticeship (Level 4): At the heart of every programme is a great Production Co-ordinator who gets things done. This 15 month programme is aimed at giving you all the skills you need in order to do this highly rewarding job. Ideally you'll already have some solid work experience under your belt with proven team-working skills although it's your potential that really matters. As part of the programme you'll go on work placements inside the BBC and right across the broadcasting industry so that you're equipped to work anywhere in the broadcasting sector, at the same time as studying towards a Level 4 Broadcast Production Co-Ordination Apprenticeship. This scheme lasts for fifteen months and starts on 30th September 2013.
About you

You'll need to be passionate about the media and have a "can do" attitude, as well as being an energetic team player and good with people. If you have some work experience in the Media, this will help, but is not essential.
