PROFILE FORM FAQs Tips on filling in the profile form, and how the searches work.
Profile Listings & Searches
Most jobs are filled by companies running their own profile searches. Profiles are listed in order of those most recently updated, so it's a good idea to update regularly. (You don't have to alter any details in your profile, just login, go to 'Update Profile', then click 'Update' at the foot of the profile.) As a subscribing individual member you can also use the Members Directory search facility and view other members' profiles. Emails
You will receive regular e-mails informing you of appropriate job postings, and a weekly 'Here's Looking at You Kid?' email letting you know which companies have viewed your profile. Please ensure your email address is correctly entered as it is our main means of contacting you. Jobs Board
Vacancies posted here are often not advertised elsewhere. Only subscribing individual members can apply for these. To view current vacancies login and click on 'jobs'. Clicking on the 'subject' brings up the specific vacancy details. To apply for a position you must be logged in. Click the link below the job specification. Applications are sent by e-mail direct to the company. We recommend that you include a covering letter. All applications contain a direct link to your profile. (It is worth noting that while the jobs board is very popular and proving to
be a great success, most positions are filled by companies using the search
facility to find people.) Cancelling your membership
The monthly direct debit can be stopped at any time. To cancel your direct debit please login and click on 'PROFILE'. Select the 'CANCEL' button and your payment will be stopped immediately. Your profile will be archived at the end of the month covered by the last payment to have left your account. Resubscribing
If your profile is archived and you would like it to be made live on the site just go to the home page and click on 'register/reactivate here' and go through the payment pages again.
You won't have to re-enter your profile details.
At the end of the payment procedure you will be asked if you already have a members' profile with productionbase, and then will be asked to enter your email address and productionbase password. Upon doing this your profile will be made live automatically. Profiles
Some formatting may be lost when cutting and pasting from a Word document, so doublecheck the appearance of your profile. Primary and Secondary Job Types These are your two main job types, the two areas in which you most like to work. (You can, if you prefer, list a primary job type and leave the secondary job type blank.) These are displayed alongside your name when company members run the searches. This provides companies with a quick and easy method of distinguishing your main area of work. (N.B. In addition to selecting these you MUST tick the job types, as it is from these that the searches are run, not the Primary and Secondary job types). For further information see 'Job Types' below. How to format your profile using HTML code
The best way to format your profile is by adding basic HTML code to the required places within the 'Update Profile' section. This will enable you to use bold, underlining and italics, for example. To apply the code you just need to add it before and after the text that you wish to change. Once you have done so scroll down and select 'Update' Here's a simple guide:
< b>Producer< /b> would give you Producer in bold
< b>< u>Director< /u>< /b> would give you Director in bold and underlined
< i>Researcher< /i> would give you Researcher in italics.
(N.B. There is no gap between the letter and the bracket - we can't show that, as it would turn into bold etc. on this screen!) You can combine one or more of these. It's quite straightforward, just remember that the coding comes immediately before the text you want altered, and then immediately afterward (the forward slash is vital here). The accepted code that you can apply to your profile are detailed below:
< b > = bold
< i > = Italic
< br >= New line
< ol >= Defines the start of an ordered list
< ul >= Defines an unordered list
< li > = bullet points
< u > = Underlined
< p > = New Paragraph
< a > = Anchor link
Website links This is the basic coding for a link to any website. Adapt this coding to your needs, typing in the space between inverted commas the website address you want to link to, and between the angled brackets the text you want to be displayed. < A HREF="http://www.mywebsite.co.uk">Click here to view my website< /A> Attaching a Word document
Attaching a Word document To upload a Word version of your profile click on 'Upload Word' on the menu bar - N.B. Word docs are best saved as Rich Text Format beforehand. This is a static page - you cannot amend it. To make changes go back to your original Word doc (e.g. on your Desktop), update and save it, then login to the productionbase, click on 'Upload Word' and delete the existing Word doc you have attached, then upload the new version (sounds complicated, but it's not!) Please note that some search engines may be able to pick up details in your Word document - so if you are concerned about privacy you may wish to omit your address and contact numbers. Freelancer Availability
This functionality has been temporarily disabled until the launch of the new PB website. We advise freelancers to detail their availability at the top of your 'ABOUT ME' section. You can add HTML coding to make this stand out. Please see below for further instructions on how to do this. Create and External Webpage All subscribing members can create an external webpage for their profile, so that non-PB members can view it without having to register. This can be sent to prospective clients and used as a marking tool to promote your talent. To do this all you need to do is create a URL for yourself via the PB homepage. Log-in and select "Create/Delete your own webpage for non-productionbase members to view" from the bullet point list. Instant Messaging You can use the Instant Messenger to contact and network with other freelancers online. Click 'Launch Instant Messenger' then select a recipient from the drop down list. Then type away!
